A study published in the June 9, 2013 edition of HealthCMI (Healthcare Medicine Institute) states acupuncture is effective in treating angina pectoris, a condition in which supply of blood to the heart is reduced, often caused by atherosclerosis.
The article, titled “New Research-Acupuncture Benefits Heart & Reduces Angina,” attributes the study to Xu, L., H. Xu, W. Gao, W. Wang, H. Zhang, and D. P. Lu., authors of “Treating Angina Pectoris By Acupuncture Therapy.”
In this research paper, the authors mention that acupuncture does not adversely interact with medications but instead lowers the frequency of angina and has can reduce dose of medications needed to treat angina.
